Most people like to look good! We don’t like wrinkles in the face. There are several causes that can be improved with a wrinkle treatment.
Some wrinkles are caused by excessive exertion of certain facial muscles. This can result in a striking facial expression such as surprise or anger. Over time, wrinkles remain visible: even when you are not smiling or frowning. It is the result of the skin’s natural aging process. This type of wrinkles as a result of movements and frowning (just like crow’s feet) can be successfully treated. We use an injection with a substance that relaxes the muscles. This substance is also called botox. Botox is an abbreviation of botulinum toxin: a protein that works on nerve cells. The protein blocks nerve fibres that control the muscles, causing them to slacken, which relaxes your skin, so to speak, causing the wrinkles you had to disappear within a few days.
Botox is a brand name, just like Aspirin, and pharmaceutical products may not be advertised in Belgium. Now botoxen has become a verb that means treating wrinkles with an injection. It is difficult to provide correct information about wrinkle treatment when patients are looking for it. We have therefore replaced the word botox with muscle relaxant in the rest of the text in order to respect the law and still not create a misunderstanding about what we are talking about.
